Blueway and DanCopter signs contract with Maersk Oil & Gas
Oslo/Esbjerg 5/24/2011 --- DanCopter, a company in the Norwegian owned helicopter group Blueway, has signed a contract with Maersk Oil & Gas to provide crew change for installations on the Danish continental shelf in the North Sea. The billion kroner contract will commence July 1st, 2012, and will last for five years with renewal options.
The contract is highly gratifying and an important step towards our goal of establishing a leading, Nordic alternative in the market for crew change by helicopter in the North Sea and in offshore markets globally, says Leif Salomonsen, CEO of Blueway AS.
With this contract we are taking a leap into the highest division with the largest helicopters. It is a great recognition and an inspiration for all of our employees in DanCopter and Blueway, says Lars Skov, CEO of DanCopter.
The contract will be operated with three new Eurocopter EC225 helicopters based in Esbjerg, Denmark. EC255 is one of the largest and most modern helicopters on the market with room for 19 passengers. DanCopter and Blueway have so far been operating medium size helicopters with room for 11-13 passengers.
Many of the helicopter contracts in the North Sea expire and will be tendered between 2011 - 2015. Blueway has great ambitions for our home market in the North Sea and in our opinion there is room for a third operator. The contract with Maersk shows that we are competitive both on quality and price, says Aage Krogh, Chairman of Blueway AS.
